Buyer - Scrap Metal

Position
Summary:

Coordinate buying of non-ferrous metals from the public; properly classify/identify material into the appropriate commodity. If applicable, scan identification into SAI, as well as properly identify valid metal recycling permit. Ensure compliance with applicable state law and company policy.

Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:

Greet and assist customers in purchasing non-ferrous metal
Upgrade material when possible
Receive and validate proper identification and permit
Maintain a clean work area during and at the end of the shift
Sort scrap to upgrade and remove nonconforming items
Perform all required preventative maintenance and report any issues
Ensure all equipment, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is in safe working condition
Contact supervisor/manager when equipment is in need of repair
Report Fraudulent Activity
Report all accidents and injuries immediately
Abide by employee handbook

Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver's license with favorable motor vehicle report
Ability to work in all kinds of weather conditions
Good verbal and written communication skills
A clear understanding and adherence to safety regulations
Must be a team player, dedicated to the organization, and self-motivated

Preferences:
Scrap knowledge
Ability to operate material handling equipment

Physical demands:
Will require the ability to constantly stand
Will require the ability to frequently walk, bend, kneel, handle, and drive
Will require the occasional ability to push/pull/lift/carry items up to 50 pounds
Will require the occasional ability to climb



Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
