Ascension Health Information Services (AHIS) is seeking to hire a Telecom Engineer/Architect who will be responsible for telecommunications architecture, design, and escalation level support. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) this new associate will use their knowledge of telephony systems, voice mail, backbone infrastructure. and conferencing systems to help design and install internal and external telecommunications networks. The position is based within a local Ministry but may provide other leveraged support to other Ministries within our enterprise organization.
### QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Minimum of six years relevant telecommunications experience required
Experience within or across telecom vendor technologies with expert level knowledge in VOIP telephony technologies.
Must have demonstrated technical leadership, a record of successful projects and satisfied clients
Must be willing to live within one hour travel of the local health Ministry
Must have reliable transportation to support other local health Ministry sites for on-call and other duties as needed
Ability to take on-call duties
Preferred:
Bachelors Degree in computer/information sciences, telecommunications, business/MIS or related field from an accredited college is preferred

### RESPONSIBILITIES
This Telecom Engineer/Architect will:
Be able to function as a project manager and lead engineer for the telecom team.
Define telecom hardware, high availability/fault tolerance/redundancy, security, address management, software/firmware version, patch maintenance, and reporting standards.
Prioritize replacement or upgrade of existing non-standard hardware, firmware, and software, and tools.
Create , publish and maintain up to date and accurate telecom documentation and diagrams.
Calculate trends to forecast future capacity and telecom requirements with recommendations for future direction.
Test and evaluate telecom systems to eliminate problems and make improvements.

This position is with AHIS; located within a specific local health Ministry within Michigan.
