School of Medcine (WMed) seeks a driven individual for our Student Affairs Department.
Working with the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, the career advising specialists, and academic advisors, this individual will serve as the administrative director for all aspects of career development across the four-year curriculum.
This includes implementation and facilitation of all facets of the four-year AAMC Careers in Medicine curriculum, creation and presentation of career development sessions and workshops, creation of career development materials, and creation of processes to review ERAS application materials such as MSPEs, LORs, CVs, Personal Statements, and Noteworthy Characteristics.
It also includes extensive tracking of students throughout each year of medical school to ensure they are meeting or exceeding the benchmarks for a successful residency match, and development of a risk assessment strategy for students in the match.
The career advising specialists will report directly to this individual.

General
Responsibilities:
Creation and management of 4-year longitudinal career advising curriculum in consultation with Assoc Dean for Student Affairs, Assistant Dean for Career Development, Career Advising Specialist, and Academic Advisors.
Interpreting and disseminating data from AAMCs Careers in Medicine (CiM), NRMPs Charting Outcomes in the Match, Texas Star, and other resources for career advising purposes.
Development and maintenance of career advising portal page (M1-M4).
Development and maintenance of career development and advising materials (updated annually with current WMed and National Match data).
Develop and implement a training program for directors and clinical chairs for specialty career advising.
Develop and implement a training program for WMed and community faculty interested in career advising.
Develop and implement a training program for alumni to develop an alumni career mentoring group.
Develop and implement a training program for clinical faculty interested in serving as specialtycareer mentors.
Plan and execute an annual meeting with career specialty SIGs to offer support and guidance.
Manage monthly group meetings with career advising team.
Availability to work on weekends and evenings to complete time sensitive projects.
Acquires knowledge for new technology and policy/procedure revisions.
All other duties as assigned.
M1-M3 Years:
Develop, implement, and manage a 4-year career development/advising curriculum at WMed.
Introduce students to the 4-year career development/advising curriculum during TRANS to MD course.
Implement utilization of the AAMC CiM modules in each year of the curriculum.
Plan and execute the annual Specialty Speed Round.
Advising for third year core clerkship lottery.
Advising for fourth year elective lottery.
Create and coordinate info webinars for CVs, Personal Statements, Noteworthy Characteristics, ERAS, Match, etc.
Provide guidance to students for special matches (Couples, SF, Urology, Military, CaRMS).
M4 Year:
Implement utilization of the AAMC CiM modules Prepare for Residency in M4 year.
Annual update of the Residency Interview Timeline on the student portal.
Assist registrar with compilation and proofreading of MSPEs ( 85 per year, 8 pages long each).
Assist registrar with MSPE uploads in September, and MSPE addendums in December and February, and final MSPE at graduation.
Assist registrar with proofreading and uploading all LORs for ERAS (approximately 250 per year).
Assist registrar with tracking LORs, photos, and USMLE transcript uploads into ERAS annually.
Work with Ed Affairs to ensure grades are entered in time for the MSPE.
Coordinate and present info webinars for CVs, Personal Statements, Noteworthy Characteristics, ERAS, Match, ROL, SOAP, etc.
Distribute and collect Consent to Release Match Information forms; track students who have not consented to release.
Provide individualized strategic guidance for special matches (Couples, SF, Urology, Military, CaRMS).
Plan and execute Mock interviews (plan events, train faculty, schedule students and faculty.
) Collect and analyze data for a Match risk assessment.
Work with the career development team to assess Match risk for each student.
Provide support for SOAP week and Match Day.
Organize panels for 4th Year Student Perspective on the Match (post-Match).
Manage annual update of Student-to-Student guide.
Maintain comprehensive Match Results spreadsheet.
Maintain comprehensive Alumni spreadsheet with specialty, residency program, and contact information.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND/OR
Experience:
Required degree:
Doctorate (PhD, EdD, MD, DO) with experience in medical education or higher education career advising.
Minimum of three years of experience in a higher education setting, preferably medical education.
Experience working with racial, cultural, and ethnic minority/underrepresented populations.
Record of accomplishment in medical student career counseling and/or advising.

Ability to effectively educate and communicate (in written and oral form) with a variety of individuals and groups.

Demonstrates the ability to recognize priorities in organization of workflow.
Able to perform duties independently, with a minimal need for direct supervision.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
